There are 5 months left before starting the trek along the Great Himalayan Trail. We are discussing with our Nepalese partners on the final version of the route and timetable. Since Nepal issues tourist visas for no more than 150 days, we should to somehow fit all the "Wishlist" within this period, and preferably with a margin of time for surprises. The schedule turns out to be quite tight, unfortunately, some of the plans had to be abandoned.

In the process of preparing the route, I met with the ideological inspirer of the creation of the Great Himalayan Trail, Robin Boasted. Robin drew my attention to a number of extremely important points regarding the organization of the movement, but somewhat cooled my ardor in attempts to negotiate with the Nepalese authorities on preferential conditions for obtaining visas and various permits.

One of my questions was about the possibility of taking a shorter road from Dolpo to Mustang. By itself, this trail is quite passable, but it turned out that if you walk along it before the beginning of autumn, you can run into a hostile attitude of locals in Mustang, because they believe that in the summer in the valley along which the trail passes, deities live, on whose mood depends the well-being of the Mustang. In order not to disturb the local gods, I will have to go to Mustang by the classic route, although it is longer by as much as 4 days.

Yes, when planning a route through the valleys lost in the mountains, you have to take into account such nuances.
