Blog >> Òhe entire GHT route is ready
As it turned out, a lot of people have made the Great Himalayan Trail. True, they made something like sporting events: who will pass faster, who from which side, and so on. I don’t like the sport option, I would like in the process to deviate from the main route to places of interest to me.
So, I worked out the entire GHT route as I like it. A non-standard start was added to the standard route - I want to start from Kailas - as well as visiting the Limi Valley, Rara and Poksundo Lakes, a few days in Upper Dolpo, visiting the whole Mustang, a radial trek to Tsum Valley and, if I will have time and energy, climbing a couple of sixthousanders. I also tried to set days for rest in interesting places.
The question of the starting point of the track, of course, is not banal. Getting permit on Kailas as I would like to get it can be quite a challenge. Also, a visit to Kailash significantly increases the cost of travel. I will decide closer to the start moment, according to the situation.
The total track duration is 195 days. It makes sense to start from Kathmandu on June 1 to be on the border with Nepal in the Simikot area to July 1. The completion of the trek according to plan is in the middle of December.
