Blog >> It is not that simple with visas ...
In the process of discussing the cost of permits and visas, it became clear that Nepal issues tourist visas for a period of not more than 150 days. And my current route is scheduled for 195 days. So it goes beyond the permitted terms by one and a half month. It is clearly not an option to simply violate the visa regime. There is a fine, deportation, and a ban on entering Nepal in the future.
We are trying to work out the options for obtaining a different type of visa, but it seems that all of them are unrealistic, and we will need to speed up on the route.
In fact, if the duration of the route is about 2000 km, if take 10 days for the start and departure, to rest one day a week and assume that about a third of the route I will cover only 5 kilometers in a walking day (which may very well be when passing high passes and climbing peaks on the way), then in order to have time to go through the entire planned route within 150 "visa" days, you need to walk 22.5 kilometers on a standard walking day. Which, in general, is quite real, although not easy.
It seems that 22.5 kilometers is only 5 hours of walking. But this is a 5 hour walk around the city. Everything happens much more slowly in the mountains.
But, they say that after a couple of weeks of travel, I will get used to walking under a backpack in the mountains and my speed will increase significantly.
