Now I have cause for concern. Nepal temporarily suspended flights with other countries from 6 to 14 May due to an increase in the number of new infections with coronavirus.

I plan to fly to Nepal only on June 15th. It seems that there is still time. In India, the new wave of the pandemic has already subsided and my Nepalese partners are confident that everything will be fine. But nevertheless, the situation worries me a little.

And I continue to prepare for the trip.

And I remind you that you can join me: the easiest options in terms of logistics are Mustang, the trek a...

Got the first coronavirus vaccine "Sputnik V".

On this occasion, I would like to note a few points: There are no vaccination queues. Well, that is, absolutely no one in queue. The whole procedure, together with the defrosting of the vaccine, took about 15 minutes, and, on the recommendation of the doctors, I waited in the corridor for half an hour on in case of "whatever happens."

Why am I getting vaccinated just now? At the beginning of the year, the question of how long the sufficient level of antibodies will remain after vaccination was actively discuss...

I walked between Dhaulagiri I (8,167m) and Dhaulagiri II (7,751m) - behind me in the photo - and ended up on Dhampus peak (6,011m). We began to climb from 800m above sea level and were seriously worried that on the approaches to the base camps Dhaulagiri would be covered by a “altitude sickness”.

What is a altitude sickness? This is an unpleasant phenomenon, the reason for which, in my opinion, is insufficient acclimatization when climbing to a noticeable height. In the Caucasus, symptoms may appear at an altitude of about 2,500 meters. In mountain systems located...

I am choosing outfit and equipment for trekking along the Great Himalayan Trail. Among the important elements of the outfit are knee-high waterproof socks with a membrane. With such socks, Nepalese forest leeches are not scary, and in such socks it will be comfortable in any weather in the mountains.

The problem may seem far-fetched, but it is not. Hikers who find themselves on Nepalese trails during the rainy season will almost certainly receive several leeches a day in addition to wet shoes. It is not dangerous (it may even be good for health), but it is uncomfortable - after a ...

What physical condition is needed for trekking in the Himalayas? And how do I prepare for the five month trip?

In fact, I haven’t done much preparation so far. Well, more precisely, I did not do anything beyond the usual gymnastics. A bit of stretching in the morning, jogging two to three times a week, a little exercise with weights for your chest and back.

I began to increase the intensity of the workload only at the beginning of March, when it finally became clear that it would not be possible to obtain a visa for 7 months and the entire route had to be laid in ...

There are 100 days left before entering the Great Himalayan Trail!

The My Great Himalaya Trail project proved to be a wonderful test of the “small steps” principle. Despite the background mode of preparation, a lot has been done over the past year.

I like the project more and more. This is a stunningly varied route full of interesting places, constantly acquiring more and more details and points of attraction.

I am almost completely ready for the start, there are only small doubts about my fitness. Since I was forced to reduce the time to complet...

There are 5 months left before starting the trek along the Great Himalayan Trail. We are discussing with our Nepalese partners on the final version of the route and timetable. Since Nepal issues tourist visas for no more than 150 days, we should to somehow fit all the "Wishlist" within this period, and preferably with a margin of time for surprises. The schedule turns out to be quite tight, unfortunately, some of the plans had to be abandoned.

In the process of preparing the route, I met with the ideological inspirer of the creation of the Great Himalayan Trail, Robin Boa...

In the process of discussing the cost of permits and visas, it became clear that Nepal issues tourist visas for a period of not more than 150 days. And my current route is scheduled for 195 days. So it goes beyond the permitted terms by one and a half month. It is clearly not an option to simply violate the visa regime. There is a fine, deportation, and a ban on entering Nepal in the future.

We are trying to work out the options for obtaining a different type of visa, but it seems that all of them are unrealistic, and we will need to speed up on the route.
