Records in "Preparation":

What physical condition is needed for trekking in the Himalayas? And how do I prepare for the five month trip?
In fact, I haven’t done much preparation so far. Well, more precisely, I did not do anything beyond the usual gymnastics. A bit of stretching in the morning, jogging two to three times a week, a little exercise with weights for your chest and back.
I began to increase the intensity of the workload only at the beginning of March, when it finally became clear that it would not be possible to obtain a visa for 7 months and the entire route had to be laid in ...

There are 100 days left before entering the Great Himalayan Trail!
The My Great Himalaya Trail project proved to be a wonderful test of the “small steps” principle. Despite the background mode of preparation, a lot has been done over the past year.
I like the project more and more. This is a stunningly varied route full of interesting places, constantly acquiring more and more details and points of attraction.
I am almost completely ready for the start, there are only small doubts about my fitness. Since I was forced to reduce the time to complet...

Several achievements can be noted at once, making me closer to the Great Himalayan Trail. Firstly, the Activity program on the phone informed me that in February I walked 306 kilometers. In fact, I think that somewhere around 15 kilometers more, I just did not always wear a watch.
306 kilometers per month, while most of the time I was busy with office work. This means that for half a year I can calmly overcome 1836 kilometers, which confirms the realistic assessment of the duration of ...

One of the tasks that I set for myself during the implementation of the project is to verify and document the power of small steps. Now I am starting small steps in two directions:
1. Learn the Nepali language. 2-3 times a day I will spend 5-10 minutes to replenish the vocabulary in Nepali (using the "Learn words" section of this site). The task is till May to reach the vocabulary size sufficient in order to communicate with Nepalese during the May campaign in Gokyo.
2. Physical fitness. 5 times a week 40 minutes of sports exercises + every Saturday cross. I will al...

The day began to increase, and along with bigger length of the day I fill more energy and optimism. There is no snow in Moscow on December 29, so running is easier than last year in December. Jogging 19 km was relatively easy, and according to plan I want to increase the distance to 22 kilometers by May.
May plans are not going easy. If I couldn't gather a team for the Himalayas, I think to go along the Gokyo-Khumbu route in the mode that I plan for the GHT. It can be possible because I know almost all the way. A guide will be needed only for crossing the Cho La pass (5300m). T...

Since I expect long periods of full autonomy during the trek, the question of the weight of the backpack becomes very important. You’ll have to think about how much each, even a very small item is needed. For example, toothpaste. I never wondered how much would I need for a month. I’ll have to find out experimentally - measure how many days one tube of paste lasts....Comments: 0

Preparation for passing Great Himalayan Trail is quite fit for the status of "project". A good project should have its own logo. I’m thinking of using as a logo a symbol you can find everywhere in Nepal - the eyes of the Buddha. In my opinion, this picture uniquely symbolizes the mountainous part of Nepal, because the mountainous areas are mainly populated by Buddhists.

On the flight to Prague, I managed to beg a sit near the emergency exit again . This time I got three empty seats and fell asleep immediately after take-off. And everything was wonderful, but two questions torment me again : Why on the morning flight, when all the passengers want to sleep, does the flight attendant wake a sleeping person and offer him an incomprehensible Aeroflot sandwich? And for what do I need information about at what height an...
