Itinerary GHT

Itinerary GHT >> Khumbu

Probably the most famous route in Nepal is the trek to Everest Base Camp. Very beautiful places, a beautiful road, but a huge number of tourists. Fortunately, not many of them reach the altitude of 4700.

After crossing the huge Chou Yu glacier, you need to go through the Cho la pass (5300 m) to get to the Khumbu valley, to the classic route for the Everest base camp. Here, depending on the outcome of the negotiations with the guides, I assume either a radial exit with an ascent to Kalapattar (5,626m) or an ascent to Lobuche peak (6,000m). The main population of the valley is Sherpas (Sherpas - "people from the east").

There is much to take a walk here: you can go to other peaks nearby, you can visit the Ama Dablam base camp, or just relax in Dingboche. After radial walks here, we are moving to Chukkung. If the weather is fine and the schedule allows, climbing Chukkung Ri (5400m), from where you can enjoy beautiful views of Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Near Ama Dablam the famous Tengboche Monastery is situated (Legend of Tengboche Monastery) and also the oldest monastery in the valley - Pangboche (legend of Pangboche monastery). If I have plenty of free time here, in principle, it's possible to look into Namche Bazaar.

Estimated travel time: 9 days

You can see the map of the trek here
