I realized that I missed the Himalayas terribly. Therefore, after some thinking and without waiting for the best (or worst conditions), I bought tickets to Kathmandu for the May holidays.
I plan to go along the route to the base camp of Everest through Gokyo. This time I will try to collect a maximum of local legends and traditions, so that the trip will be even more eventful than usual. Legends will appear on this site and on Facebook. And of course, they will become part of the description of the Great Himalayan Trail.

So I decided in May to go to Gokyo and Khumbu. The route will be almost classic - flight to Lukla, further to the Gokyo Lakes (here, if I can move quickly, may be time to visit another lake located on the way to Chow Yu), then through Cho La pass to the Khumbu valley. Here in Khumbu I’m thinking of going along a new path: after climbing Kalapattar, returning not by the classical path, but through the Kongma La pass (5,535 m) to Chukung (and maybe even run into Chukung Ri).
Since everywhere on the route you can spend the night in houses, it's possible to refuse the service...

The day began to increase, and along with bigger length of the day I fill more energy and optimism. There is no snow in Moscow on December 29, so running is easier than last year in December. Jogging 19 km was relatively easy, and according to plan I want to increase the distance to 22 kilometers by May.
May plans are not going easy. If I couldn't gather a team for the Himalayas, I think to go along the Gokyo-Khumbu route in the mode that I plan for the GHT. It can be possible because I know almost all the way. A guide will be needed only for crossing the Cho La pass (5300m). T...

As it turned out, a lot of people have made the Great Himalayan Trail. True, they made something like sporting events: who will pass faster, who from which side, and so on. I don’t like the sport option, I would like in the process to deviate from the main route to places of interest to me.
So, I worked out the entire GHT route as I like it. A non-standard start was added to the standard route - I want to start from Kailas - as well as visiting the Limi Valley, Rara and Poksundo Lakes, a few days in Upper Dolpo, visiting the whole Mustang, a radial trek to Tsum Valley and, if...

Returning to the question of solar panels ... The experiment showed that solving the problem of providing youself with electricity with the help of solar panels only is not an easy task.
Since the purchase of the first solar battery, there has not been a single clear day. The first battery in three days did not increase the battery charge by a single gram. I suggested that the battery just didn't work and bought a second one. The second battery also added exactly zero to the battery level per day. And then I decided to read the documentation.
On a clear day, an A4-format ...

And from our window you can see Lenin Street. In Surgut, wonderful weather. Snowy, but in the morning the temperature is +3, so it was damp. By night it got colder to -10. Now it’s dry, but very slippery.
Surgut was founded by Ermak, whose monument stands in the city center.
Well, I'm here for work: I speak at the first regional forum on financial literacy, which is being held at Surgut University today.

Kachenjunga or Makalu?
It's time to start thinking about treks for next year. I have a desire to go to Nepal in the spring: blooming rhododendrons, alpine meadows, spring Nepalese fruits and all that ... Since blooming rhododendrons are a good reason to go in the spring, you obviously need to choose the route where they are and where they are blooming.
I'm choosing between two routes - to the Makalu base camp (...

I've bought a solar battery in an online store. Made by SunPower.
It has arrived just in ordinary cardboard box, without instructions, without guarantees and all that. And it looks like a dummy made of polyvinyl chloride with a picture of a solar battery printed on it in black ink.
I called the store. They explained to me very confidently that modern batteries no longer look like silicon wafers with a meta...

Since I expect long periods of full autonomy during the trek, the question of the weight of the backpack becomes very important. You’ll have to think about how much each, even a very small item is needed. For example, toothpaste. I never wondered how much would I need for a month. I’ll have to find out experimentally - measure how many days one tube of paste lasts....Comments: 0

Preparation for passing Great Himalayan Trail is quite fit for the status of "project". A good project should have its own logo. I’m thinking of using as a logo a symbol you can find everywhere in Nepal - the eyes of the Buddha. In my opinion, this picture uniquely symbolizes the mountainous part of Nepal, because the mountainous areas are mainly populated by Buddhists.
